Flex-Range Linear Motion Battle System |
Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk utilizes the same battle system established in Tales of the Abyss for the PS2, although it may be more along the lines of TOW: Radiant Mythology, as it lacks the FOF system. Players are able to use the Free Run ability to run around the battlefied as they wish, instead of being confined to a single line.
Emil and Marta are both able to capture monsters that they face in battle, tame and train them, and bring them along for later adventures. The monsters will join the player in battle, and can be issued commands, but at times they will not listen and will act of their own free will. This adds another layer of strategy, as the player must know how and when to use these monsters.
