EX SkillsThroughout the game you will find items called EX Gems, which you can attach to your characters. Depending on the level of the EX Gem, you can choose which EX Skills to equip. The EX Skills will give your characters advantages both on the field and in battle, such as running faster in towns and lowering merchant prices to casting spells faster and increasing the chance of a critical hit. Some EX Skills will combine to form Compound EX Skills that give additional advantages to your characters. Each character has their own individual set of EX Skills, so you can customize their skill sets depending on your play style.
Cooking SystemAt the end of every battle, the player can have a character in the party cook. This is an inexpensive and easy way to restore your characters' HP and TP. There are many different recipes involving different ingredients, and each recipe has a different effect on your party. Some recipes will cure poison, while others will temporarily raise your characters' stats.
Unison Attacks
Every successful hit you make on an enemy raises the Unison Attack Gauge. When the gauge is full, you can execute a Unison Attack. It's basically an extra attack that chains into a super-combo involving all characters in your party. The player can choose which attacks the party will do, and certain attacks will combine at the end of the combo-chain to form really powerful finishing-moves.
Skits
Quite often the player will be presented with an opportunity to view a skit between the characters, where the characters talk with each other about their histories, personality traits, current events in the game, or just make fun of one another. Some of them are pretty funny, and provide a deeper understanding of the characters and their personalities.
