One day a young swordsman named Cress Alvein, who lived in the town of Toltus, went out to hunt with his childhood friend, Chester Burklight, in the forest located to the south of the town. Upon returning Cress and Chester discover that their village has been attacked and all the residents have been killed. Both lose people who are very dear to them, so they both determine to avenge them. However the dark knight, Mars, who destroyed the city, originally searched for a pendant, which was under Cress’ possession. Mars needs this pendant as one of the keys to revive the evil Dhaos. Cress decides to act independently, as he is worried about Chester, and leaves the town. Unfortunately, after travelling for a short amount of time Cress is unable to protect the pendant, which was given to him by his parents, and loses it to Mars. He is also sent to prison, and this is where he meets a healer by the name of Mint. After overhearing something concerning the revival ceremony, Cress and Mint escape the prison and head to the location where this will take place.
Alone, Cress and Mint are unable to cease Mars from resurrecting the evil Dhaos. As Dhaos attempts to eliminate Cress and Mint, they are sent to the past by a strange power, Cress decides to search for Dhaos in the past and destroy him with the help of Mint, who is also involved in this matter as she is somewhat linked to Cress’ family. With the help of Arche and Claus, two companions who are able to use magic, they find themselves facing a long journey full of obstacles, but with great determination they dive into this adventure in order to put an end to the evil Dhaos.
